Youth Developmental (Ages 6 – 12) and Select (Ages 13 – 18) Baseball Teams (The Headfirst Gamers Program)
WHAT IS A GAMER? A GAMER is someone who places “effort over results,” is more concerned with his team than himself, and enjoys a positive coaching approach challenging the athlete both mentally and physically.

HEADFIRST GAMERS HISTORY: The Headfirst Gamers program began in 2001 with a single 12U travel team and currently boasts between 200 – 250 hard-working ballplayers between the ages of 5 and 18 each season. The program aims to develop youth baseball players in a positive yet demanding learning environment free of parental coaching influence on the practice and game field. All of our teams are run by our trained professional coaching staff - with the Gamers, parents are fans only! In 2004, the Headfirst Gamers were recognized as a national award-winning organization by the Positive Coaching Alliance.

DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUES: The Gamers run Developmental Leagues in the fall and spring for ballplayers, both girls and boys, from the ages of 6 – 12 in three separate age groups (6-7U, 8-10U, & 11-12U). Our 6-7U Gamers practice once per week after school and play a game on Saturday mornings. Our 8-10U Gamers practice twice per week and play games on Saturday mornings. The 11-12U Gamers practice twice per week and play games on Saturday afternoons.
In our Developmental Leagues there are no tryouts – roster spots are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. All practices and games are run by our professional coaching staff.

SELECT/TRAVEL TEAMS: Headfirst Gamers Select/Travel teams (with tryouts) begin at 13U in the fall, spring and summer. We compete in the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (www.nvtbl.org) and also in occasional national tournaments. INDIVIDUAL & TEAM PRIVATE INSTRUCTION

Individual Instruction
The priority goals of each private session are to teach mechanics, instruct on specific techniques, provide confidence and add energy. Another Headfirst goal for every private session is to have our athletes walk away with a better understanding of their sport and the tools needed to improve targeted skills.

For more information, please e-mail: privateinstruction@playheadfirst.com

Team Instruction
Headfirst has also established an outstanding reputation for designing and conducting team practices for local youth sports teams in the area. Our professional coaches collaborate with local youth coaches and sports leagues to run effective and efficient practice sessions on a contract basis.

Our coaches travel to teams' practice sites each week with a detailed practice plan centered on teaching the Headfirst style of play and aimed at improving team concepts and individual mechanics. These practice plans are designed to help the teams improve their game performance and reach their athletic goals.
